I have been feeling better and my T told me she measures my well-being by how worried and fearful she gets about me. So they don't just let it go. It impacts them. When I was seeing my p=doc for therapy, I once asked him what it was like for him and he said it's intense. It's intense on both ends, not just for me. He said you have to learn to some extent to not carry it around with you, but no matter how experienced you are, patients' pain impacts you and is hard to leave behind.
So I don't resent my therapists at all. I know they have gone above and beyond for me when I have been in terrible distress. I know they become distressed too, though obviously they need to learn to deal with it.
