Suicidal immediately but don't know what to do

I know I need to go to the hospital or i will try today. Ive had other attempts in the past. But I have never been admitted to a psych unit before. Can I just go there? Will they let you in? Do I go to the er or what?
Help would be appreciated for people who have been here before.
