Hi all
After being on a combo of ADs only and still keep cycling up and down, I finally agreed to start Lamictal. First I tried the usual 25 mg ramp up after each 2 weeks but after going straight from 25 to 50 mg I got sleep problems and nausea, so I went back to 37,5 mg and felt better, also sleep was back to "normal". After 2 weeks I tried to go from 37,5 mg to 50 mg and the same happened. I stopped the Lamictal completely for a couple of weeks and now I am trying again, this time going up by 6,25 mg (quarter of 25 mg pill) and after reaching 44 mg the sleep problem came back (but no nausea).
I take the Lamictal in the morning and ADs in the evening as they all (Nort, Mirtz, and Valdoxan)have sleep bettering features. After mayde 30-60 minutes I fall to sleep but wake upp after 4-5 hours and cannot get back to sleep.I have now been on 44 mg for 6 days and in 2 days time I will go to 50 mg.
I am on 110 mg Nortriptyline, 37,5 mg Valdoxan and 5 mg Mirtazapin - the plan was to eliminate the Valdoxan but my pdoc thinks we should wait untill there is an effect from the Lamictal.
Do you think the sleep problem will go away with time and for how long can this SE continue? I have read that some have the same problems w sleep but I would like to know if it is likely that this thing goes away...
