Mirtazepine as an anxiolytic

Posted by jono_in_adelaide on August 3, 2011, at 19:50:35

Hi guys, I think you know that I suffer from GAD, PD and depression.

I currently take reboxetine 4mg twice a day, which controls the depression, Alprazolam 1mg 2-3 times a day which controls the anxiety to some extent, risperidone 1mg at night also for the anxiety, and Sertraline 100mg which doesnt seem to do much of anything.

Givwn that SSRI's havent helped me much ever, I am pondering stopping Zoloft and starting Remeron, and thinking that because remeron is also a 5HT antagonist, that I might be able to also stop the risperidone.

So, any thoughts about the efficiacy of mirtazepaine as an anxiolytic, and any comments about the propensity to cause weight gain.
