Hi Alchemy. The best advise I can give you is to get individual help with this situation from a counselor and/or doctor. PsychoBabble is a great resource, but we aren't qualified to give advice in your situation. I don't know enough about your condition, your finances, your support network, etc. to point you in the right direction.
I can tell you that the impact on your memory varies greatly depending on whether you're getting bilateral or unilateral ECT and the length of time between each treatment. And two people getting the same treatment can have very different reactions to it.
When I got ECT, I worked in a government job in which I had more "rights" than employees in the private sector. I was able to get away with taking the time off and having memory issues. It sounds like you're in the private sector. All I know for sure is that it's hard to go through what you're going through without a support network. Can anyone support you if you quit or lose your job due to your psychiatric needs?

Even if it is only a semester I at least would have a reason for another break in my resume. I still don't know what I want to do, but I would just hope that I would feel better to have some kind of motivation. Even if I felt well I still wouldn't really like my job.
