Jaw stiffness with Buproprion, not with Wellbutrin

Posted by MAP on June 22, 2011, at 14:58:05

Not a question but a reflection that might be of use to board users:

After starting Buproprion (not SR) instant release at a low dose of 75mg, I had severe jaw stiffness / bruxism / clenching after a couple of days. This went away a few days after I stopped taking the medication.

Started taking name brand Wellbutrin at the same dose and no jaw stiffness or clenching after almost three weeks.

There IS a difference between generics and name brands for some patients! Perhaps I was allergic or having a reaction to one of the non-active ingredients in the generic Buproprion, but in any case if you're having side effects with generics, esp. Buproprion, it might be worth giving the name brand medication a try.
