The problem with switching from MAOI to MAOI is that one doesn't just to take into account the pharmacokinetic halflife (how long until the drug is out of the body), but also the pharmacodynamic halflife (how long until the effects disappear). For example, tranylcypromine (Parnate) has a very short half-life, it'll be completely gone within less than 24hrs, but the MAOI inhibition continues up to 14 days after the last dosage. Because 14 days is the time span during which the body fully replaces its MAOI enzymes.
What you *could* do is go 7 days without anything, and then 7 days at the lowest possible dose with a new MAOI. That *should* be alright.
However, I agree with Philippa, doesn't this all depend on your doc, what he's going to prescribe and when? If he doesn't give you the script before two weeks are over, you can't really do anything :D.. and if he does give you the script, he will probably instruct you what exactly to do.
Good luck, I hope going off Emsam won't be (too) difficult!
