Celexa is much less expensive if you get the generic. Other than that, I don't know of any advantages.
When Lexapro (escitalopram) finally gets generic competition, Celexa may eventually disappear. Then again, Forest continues to sell name-brand Celexa, at higher prices than Lexapro (drugstore.com). Some people may continue to swear by Celexa even though Forest says Lexapro is better.
In my heart of hearts, I doubt that the difference is much more than marketing. But I still hope to try Lexapro once it finally goes generic.
