Marplan's top dose is 60mg. My previous doctoor said to go to 80mg. I asked "but isn't that a bit high?" He replied "well you've no side effects at 60? Well we'll go to 80mg". Guess this is called 'off label dosing'? No problems at 80 so I've decided to go to 100mg, despite there being a current shortage of the med.
But what I've found over the years, with Marplan and Nardil is that a sudden increase can bring it back to life. Like whenever I'd go from my 90mg Nardil to 120mg. Couple of days and its back. Just hard to do when you're prescribed less than that and you really need ur docs go ahead. So the high dose is hard to keep up meaning I have to return to the previous dose. Anyone share this experience?
I suppose thats why people often say start at the lowest dose possible, leaving yourself plenty of leeway. And as we're talking MAO who knows what my levels are without a test (which I cant get). I'll see how it goes...med
