Lately my research has been mostly on GABA & glutamate. (GABA plays a role in regulating neuronal excitability. Glutamate excites.)
I have previously described my quick "waves" between moods. Some slight and some are more noticable. It's hard to explain, but it almost feel like mis-firings, or asynchronous spikes.
I am thinking these are more related to epilepsy. (but I also have the every few days bipolar rapid cycling crap)So...these waves started after taking dexedrine about 8 months ago. (still taking it). They have become more frequent (they only last a couple of hours). I am just worried that this is going to get worse (and screw me up more). I have noticed they are more likely to happen around ovulation & menstruation.
I also take 400mg Lamictal; 20mg Celexa; 300mg Wellbutrin; 2mg xanax.
Stimulants are worse for bipolar.
Wellbutrin is infamous for its seizure risk (much higher than stimulants).
All of the other anti-convulsants have not been good- usually agitation.I really don't want to give up the dexedrine because it is the only thing that helps with motivation. Hell, I don't know if anything else is actually helping. I think I am going to decrease the Wellbutrin. I am hoping that because I added Dexedrine to the Wellbutrin it compounded the problem with this "spiky" wave stuff rather than just being on the Dexedrine alone.
Any thoughts/ideas?
