My statement was a bit misleading. In the past I was able to just take an antidepressant-first Prozac then Zoloft-and feel much better without sexual side effects or any other side effects. I think it was just my individual physiology, not Prozac or Zoloft. Though I have read that Zoloft is less likely to have sexual side effects than other SSRIs.

I have a lot going on nowadays, and have been through quite a bit over the last few years, which is why I think Prozac and Zoloft don't quite work the same way they used to. I still don't experience any sexual side effects, I just can't take them as monotherapy and feel well enough to get on with my life and do the things I want to do. If I had stayed on Zoloft 3 years ago, I may still be doing very well on it. Being bipolar and having experienced a few major mixed episodes along with some medication trials may have changed the way my brain responds to Zoloft. Plus, like I said, things in my life are different now, so I need more protection than the protection Zoloft offered me in the past. It's complicated.

All that said, I think I'm going back to Zoloft soon(I've been on it twice since getting off it in 2007 and having a few mixed episodes. I may add a little Nortriptyline this time. Currently, I take Serofin SJW, 500 mg Depakote, and 600 mg, lithium. I'm about 5 weeks into Serofin and want to give it another 3 or 4 weeks before considering going back to a pharmaceutical SSRI. Serofin is definitely helping, I'm just not sure if it's going to be enough for what my hurting brain and psyche need.
