Bearfan,
I've taken Parnate, Nardil, and Cymbalta, and I too noticed a significant difference between the way Cymbalta affected me and the way the MAOIs affected me. When Nardil and Parnate (the Goldshield U.K. version) worked, they completely wiped out my depressive symptoms, which are lack of energy, hypersomnia, psychomotor retardation, anhedonia, and difficult concentrating. I also felt less agitated on Nardil and Parnate when they worked than I did prior to and after taking those medications. The biggest problem that I had with Parnate and Nardil is that I couldn't get their effects to last. When I took Cymbalta, I lasted about four days on the medication because I felt significantly more depressed and agitated on the medication than I did prior to and after taking it. So, for me, Cymbalta was nothing like Nardil and Parnate. In fact, it seemed to be quite the opposite of the MAOIs in terms of the way it affected me.
