I'd like to join in here if I may. Bipolar 1 with GAD and PD, as well as PTSD and Asperger's Syndrome. Anxiety is implicitly relate to my "bipolar" as it is quite severe pretty frequently and causes my moods to get either overexcited (hypomanic) or descend into deep depression. So we have been trying to control the anxiety.
That's where Neurontin came in. Surprisingly worked well for me---but OMG, the weight gain!!!! At first I just enjoyed feeling better (was also taking Lamictal, Lorazepam, and 25 mg Seroquel for insomnia). For awhile also Amisulpride, an atypical antipsychotic.
So I have never just taken Neurontin on its own. Anyway, my pdoc suggested I try Lyrica in hopes that the weight gain would be less. HAHA. I am working very hard on this score, 1000 cals a day and 2-3 hrs exercise and have lost 10 lbs while on it. When I lapsed once on holiday I gained like nobody's business. No room for error. Anyway, I think the Lyrica is helping the anxiety, but now I am worried and want to withdrawal just to test it. But I am so SCARED of withdrawal.
Would like to keep in touch with your progress. So far I have moved from600 mgs (top limit) a day to 375 or 450. I am trying to do it slow but it is hard and I keep going back up. I am thinking just go cold turkey and get it done wuth.
How much are you on? Does it help anxiety?
