After finding my thyroid was low, my endocrinologist tested my testosterone levels only to find they were very low as well. I am a 38 year old male btw.
I've been on the therapeutic dose of Synthroid for little over a month now and have not noticed any increase in energy or decrease in fatigue/lethargy. Doc said it was the low T that was causing the fatigue and lethargy.
Also found out I have mild obstructive sleep apnea which can cause low T levels and visa versa. I see a Pulmonologist on Wednesday.
All of these can cause significant depression, lethargy, sexual dysfunction (which I have been at the mercy of for years unable to achieve erections, etc)) and I post about it here because my Pdoc says I may not need a lot of the meds I'm on now once all the treatments for the low T/Synthroid/Sleep apnea are working.
It would be nice not to have to rely on Adderall to get me through the day and/or only have to take a small dose of an antidepressant.
Does anyone have any info on this triple threat? This may be why my depression has been so resistant....?
DR. BOB - I apologize if posting about this topic here is in the wrong - I did not know where else to post it. My apologies.
Thanks
Jerry
