In reply to what's the longest you have stayed in bed, posted by Maxime on August 27, 2010, at 16:44:20
When I was severely depressed last summer, I barely got out of bed for about 6 weeks. After two weeks of not showering or washing my hair, my daughter, who came down from Canada to try to take care of me, forced me to get up and shower. Then I went back to bed. They call this atypical depression, when all you want to do is sleep and avoid life. I didn't sleep the entire time, sometimes I laid in bed and cried and sometimes I made plans to kill myself. I spent four of those six weeks in a hospital. For me, the depression lifted once I started on parnate. I know parnate hasn't really worked for you. I hope you feel better soon. I didn't find that forcing myself up and about helped at all. My husband and daughter would insist I accompany them to a movie and as soon as I got home, I would go back to bed. I don't know what to tell you. I think, as I said in another post, that you should go to an ER if you are suicidal.
