Hi Tio,

>I do seem to have a problem specifically with the 5ht1 receptor, hence all my problems with SSRIs.

Perhaps, but who knows? It's impossible to be so specific. Biological psychiatry is still in its infancy.

>My worst reaction was to Lexapro and that's because its laser like focus on serotonin and nothing else.

Your response to Lexapro still leaves a lot of questions unanswered.

There are a numerous different types of serotonin receptors. Receptors are located in a variety of areas throughout the brain. Stimulation of these receptors by serotonin can cause a diverse range of responses. Also, the serotonergic systems of the brain are not isolated - SSRIs indirectly affect the activity of a range of other neurotransmitters.

>Below is what wikipedia says about Geodon: If you can understand what it's says, I wondered if you could compare it to what wikipedia says about Surmontil: The fact that they both antagonize at the 5ht receptor indicates some sort of similarity.

In terms of activity at receptors, trimipramine does share some similarities with the atypical antipsychotics. The problem with comparing receptor binding affinities on paper is that it doesn't always predict how one will respond to the drug in practice.

>So my final question is whether I should talk to my doctor about Trimipramine or Nardil.

I think you should ask your doctor about both. Trimipramine is not a frequently used med. I wouldn't be surprised if your doctor hasn't used it for a long time. To be honest, I'm not at all sure whether it was a good suggestion. Its anticholinergic adverse effects can be particularly annoying. On the other hand, you have already tried many of the common meds, but very few TCAs, so it could be worth a shot.
