MAOIs increase the amount of monoamine neurotransmitters stored in the storage vesicles and available for release upon synaptic firing. The metabolites of Nardil and Parnate might amplify this effect.
I forgot to mention that this amplification would involve increased release of dopamine and not serotonin.
