I have all kinds of reservations about it--worried I won't sleep, I'll get fat, have anxiety, how will I manage the dietary restrictions. But I'm also too depressed to be much good these days, too much crying...thank you to the kind souls who lent their ears and advice.

I feel your pain. Hard to be mommy when feeling like that. I was on Parnate for over a year, I think I started at 30mg though. The first week I felt GREAT. Just like with Emsam. I think I read you tried that. Anyway, a good sign if you have initial response. For me that faded and I had to wait out some unpleasant but tolerable side effects. The food was no problem, never had a reaction. Watch other meds though. Sleep was an issue and, surprizingly, very low blood pressure. That was a real problem for me. I wouldn't worry about weight gain on Parnate. You'll probably lose some. After the initial boost, it took a while to kick in *for me*. Sometimes high doses are used/needed (60mg+) and/or augments. Just be really careful if that happens. Good luck!
