Lou,
You are right in that neuroleptic medications can induce this type of movement disorder. Parkinson's Disease is usually idiopathic, and caused by a loss of dopamine in the brain. Parkinsonism can be caused by a stroke, encephalitis, meningitis, progressive supranuclear palsy, cortibosasal degeneration, certain antipsychotic and metoclopramide medications, toxins or head trauma. I googled the poor lady's name and could find no explanation of the cause of her parkonsonism symptoms. Maybe if someone wanted to dig deeper... Parkinson's disease is the most common cause of this type of parkinsonism. Did you see a citation, other than somebodies comment on the video, that her symptoms were caused by neuroleptic medications?I am glad that your symptoms were cured. This type of movement disorder is obviously very nasty to have to live with. And I do see your point in that antipsychotic medications can cause this type of movement disorder. These medications should be prescribed in as low a dosage and for as short a time as possible. However, I would not want to live with the symptoms of schizophrenia either.
Good Luck and Be Well,
Jedi
