In reply to MAOI diet ???, posted by mommyron on March 2, 2010, at 13:49:57
i was nervous too, as i'm a vegetarian and already have a sort of strict diet.
i haven't felt too constrained by the diet so far, however.
i believe yogurt is supposed to be ok, as long as it is fresh (maybe don't eat something if it is very close to it's expirey date). i am guessing the same is true of raw milk, though i don't know for sure. unfortunately different people seem to have difference tolerances and metabolisms, which is why it is so hard to come up with one comprehensive list. another problem is just because you have successfully eaten something doesn't mean that it's 100% guaranteed not to trigger something in the future.i am still new to parnate, so every time i eat something that i haven't tried yet i get a little nervous. i assume this will go away with time, as long i don't have a hypertensive crisis (and the chances of this are good). i also find that i tend to eat smaller portions "just in case." i don't know if that actually makes any difference in reality, but it makes me feel better, and my appetite is a bit smaller anyway (as opposed to on the ssri's when i craved carbs constantly and would eat everything on my plate).
i don't know if this is helpful to you at all, but i eat tofu and soy-based meat regularly (though tempeh specifically is supposed to be fermeted, so i avoid), small amounts of soy sauce, soy yogurt, a glass of red wine, bottled beer (negro modelo), dark chocolate, pasta with a small amount of Parmesan cheese on top, plain cheese pizza, and indian paneer (farmer's cheese) all with no problems.
