In reply to Tramadol Does It Work For Some As Antidepressant, posted by Phillipa on February 25, 2010, at 0:39:42
I think it absolutely works well for anxiety and depression. It is clearly serotonergic. In fact, I think one of the contraindications is that people on SSRI's should not take it due to the possibility of serotonin syndrome.
Not only does it work, but it works fast...This can be seen as a good thing, but it's also very bad because there's a strong possibility of psychological habituation and addiction.
Then there's the fact that it's an opioid, and that's a whole other can of worms. Personally, I think this should only be used as a matter of last resort or maybe just as a once in while "booster." However, this would only apply to people who are very responsible with drugs and are not prone to addiction.
> Today my pdoc admitted some people are or seem to be opiod responders and tramadol was spoken about although it's not an opiod. Does anyone think it works for mild depression/anxiety? Thanks Phillipa
