>hummmm... The Neurontin (Gabapentin) is not as strong than the Lyrica, but both have the same effects.
I was on the maximum dose of Neurontin (3600 mg/day) for 2 months, at the same time I was on the Rivotril 4 mg day to treat social anxiety and cluster headache and I had no success... In fact, I only had pins and needles feeling in my legs, arms, hair... it was not doing anything good for my anxiety or the headache... The main problem with the Neurontin is that you have to take a lot of separate doses each day because of the short half-life... 4 times a day... and when you forget a dose, you feel weird...
I try the Lyrica only for 1 week... I can told you that it's a more powerfull version of the Neurontin with a longer half-life... I try it before I was addicted to the Rivotril (Benzo meds) and I remember that I had to take it before bedtime and I was too much sedated at daytime. After one week I quit because of the sedation... so I can't told you if it's more good for anxiety than the Neurontin...
One thing to notice... those meds induce a strange feeling the first few doses you take, I mean that you will feel like your neck and the back of your head will become very hot... like facial flushing also...
I know the Lyrica is approved in the Europe for GAD, but I ask my PDoc recently about the Lyrica to treat my GAD and panic disorder and he say that the Lyrica can have nasty side-effects, sweeling from hands, legs as well a major weight gain...
So my guess is that trying the Neurontin first will be a safer choice...
Hope it can help!
