I think its possible to come up with some sort of regiment, but I think the key may be that it is not consistent each day.

I think the "shock to the system" is sometimes necessary (at least for me). But it can't be too strong a shock or it just wipes you out.

Changing it enough to keep you on your toes I guess.

Switching to a med b with a different mode of action can (like you say) let the receptors for neurotransmitter a regain sensitivity (?)
