In reply to would you recommend your medication and why?, posted by julie1977 on January 10, 2010, at 6:01:27
I would recommend all of my meds.
Geodon- worked great to control mixed states and improve depression-- no side effects except weight gain-- just because it stopped working for me doesn't mean other people wouldn't get longer use out of it.
Lamictal- Definitely. This is the first drug I ever felt normal on. It relieved what was left of my depression without any side effects-- what a dream! It worked for several years before I messed it up by going off of it and then trying to go back on it
Parnate-- It depends. If people can do well on SSRIs or Wellbutrin, I would encourage them to stick to those rather than Parnate. That said, Parnate helped my depression and took me out of some really deep lows. I'm not a huge fan of the acne, hypotension, and insomnia, though. Also, you can't mix alot of drugs with it and you have to follow a diet, which isn't as bad as it sounds but is sometimes annoying.
Ambien- I think it works pretty well without side effects. I would recommend it although I think I prefer Lunesta.
Seroquel- this only puts me to sleep (which is what I'm on it for). It has no mood benefits at all. I think it's a little too powerful of a drug to just use as a sleeping medicine and wish I didn't have to take it.
I hope that helps someone!
