What exactly are we looking at here?

What are the features and symptoms of your illness? What is your current diagnosis?

What drugs are you thinking of using?

I think it is hard to make sweeping generalizations. It depends on the biology of the brain, which differs from one person and one presentation to another. For instance, Depakote can stabilize a bipolar manic episode within 36 hours if loading dosages are used. Lithium can take a week or more. If ultra-rapid cyclicity is involoved, it might take 6-9 months for the drugs to significantly penetrate the cycle. It is hard to predict.
