Well, I'm interested in Guanfacine because with my ADD I have a lot of symptoms such as restlessness, irritability, sometimes anger, body feeling hot and uncomfortable, restless legs, hypersensitive, etc. Anti-psychotics and ssri's made these symptoms worse for me.... benzos were only mildly helpful and excacerbated my ADD issues along with lowering my confidence and social skills(I'm a social phobic as well). Propranolol gave a little bit of relief as well but also excacerbated my concentration problems.

So, I'm wondering if Guanfacine might be something that might be helpful in this regard along with maybe even enhancing my concentration/focus a little bit. I've read it increases NE in the prefrontal cortex, improves working memory, sustained attention, etc.

I've tried Adderall and experienced some help with concentration/focus, verbal fluency, confidence... but it also would make me overfocus at times and made me more restless/irritable. The other I didn't like about Adderall is that it tends to make me feel robotic... I would have an increased desire to socialize with people but I always wanted to talk about serious things and it killed my sense of humor and perhaps some of my creativity also. I don't like that feeling. Never tried the methylphenidate drugs... do they give you the robotic/serious feeling too?

Another thing, being both blood pressure meds, would Guanfacine be effective against physical symptoms of Social Anxiety like Propranolol is? I assume it would be. If Guanfacine can produce a calming effect for me with also giving mild cognitive enhancement that would be great.

Also, saw there's a clinical trial up for Guanfacine for the stress of smoking cessation. I wonder if a combo of Buproprion and Guanfacine might help me kick the smoking habit.
