That's great that your friends found relief. I think there is a diff between the two, esp the subjective intensity. I was diagnosed with SP during my first major depression. Then I did some cbt and it lessened and also my depression improved. So call it social anxiety. But it can still get pretty intense as far as avoidance goes. I fight it all the time (that's the cbt skills). And when I relapse, it rears up horribly as a primary symptom. (BTW, I was the worst waitress! lol.) And I don't drink....
I do think social anxiety exists often as part of any mood disorder, if only because one may be struggling to appear 'normal' and to be feeling alright. S*cks, though. What do you think?
