Hi,
I think Phillipa was saying that it is possible to feel that bad on a drug so that when you come off it you feel such a relief and feel a bit better.
I personally used to get a rebound affect (in a good way) from stopping SSRIs. It doesn't seem to work anymore and I'm not bipolar.
