I was taking Zoloft for anxiety, rather than depression. I initially did well on Zoloft, 50mg, but after a few years it didn't seem to be working and I wanted to try to go it without meds, so I stopped taking it. That was about 1 year ago.Now my anxiety has returned and I thought I'd try a different SSRI that might work better, heard a lot of good things about Lexapro and asked my Dr. if I could try it. He was fine with it, so here I am. Now I'm wondering if I should have just gone back on the Zoloft, maybe trying a higher dose.
I've heard positive things about Prozac, too, but know it's less targeted, and sticks around a long time, which I know can be good for withdrawal symptoms, but don't like the thought of having something in my system that long if I have a bad reaction to it.
For now the plan is to keep on the Lexapro until (if) it gets totally unbearable, at which point I think I'll just go back on Zoloft.
Any luck with Effexor for anxiety? Again, I've heard both good and bad stories...
