> Are there any success stories here with St. John's Wort? It appears to have potential as a fairly powerful antidepressant. And, if the mechanism of action is what it appears to be, you would think it would work for even severe cases of depression. I am wondering if there is a way to intensify the effect of SJW so that it acts more like a powerful AD, by simply using high doses. I am sure someone has tried this before."
I tried 2 years ago, before I went on SSRI's. It had an effect at the time, causing SSRI like effects at a lower dosage and more energetic effects on a higher dose. I wouldn't really say it made feel better in the months, I was on it. I tried St. John's wort recently and it has absolutely no effect on my mind whatsoever. It's worth trying as the side effect profile is pretty safe and it's pretty cheap. But it didn't bring me any kind of remission really.
