Hi Jerry: Just thought I'd let you know what a friends experience has been with Xyprexa and Metformin. She's been on tons of bipolar meds for 25 years. Finally, the last six years, she has stabilized and done really well, really happy, dating etc. She takes Xyprexa (which she ADORES),metformin, lamictal, lexapro, dextrostat 4xday, and restoril. When she first started Xyprexa she put on a lot of weight. Her pdoc started her on Metformin. She felt better and had No side effects. By really eating little tiny meals and exercising she has been able, since the metformin, to LOSE weight, 25 pounds and still going. For her the Xyprexa was a life saver. She says she would do ANYTHING necessary to stay on it the rest of her life. So that's one gal's opinion. I can vouch for the fact that she's never felt so well and never been stable for such a long period of time. She's out of town for a week but when she's back I'd be happy to ask her any other questions you might have.
Good luck!
Gayle
