The controversy is synthetic, no matter the brand or generic versions, and natural in the form of dessicated pig thyroid. Most endos don't like the dessicated version. But Dessicated pig thyroid meds like armour have been around so long and are just as regulated by the FDA as synthetics. And both synthetics and the natural versions of thyroid hormones have had to recall batches due to inconsistencies.
so it is big pharm versus old school that is the debate.
both can help some, sometimes only one is needed and sometimes a combo of both is needed. It is up to the person and not by the prescribing doctors wishes (or so it should be).rsk
