Clonazepam to help with hypo?

Posted by ricker on June 6, 2009, at 15:40:06

Hi all,

I've been taking clonazepam for 22 years, 0.5mg 2/day. Since the addition of lamictal I've notice a lift in depression although my irritability/anger seems to have increased. I've been using zydis to help control that, but I'd like to look for something, well, a bit more "user friendly"?

I tried lithium last summer /fall but I experienced feelings similar to that of akathisia? I'm not sure if that's even possible with lithium, but I'm going with that description.

Trileptal lasted 3 days as I felt like I was taking an anti-anti depressant, not good at all.

So, my question is this, might my long-term friend, clonazepam help counter the irritability/aggression? Perhaps raising my current dose 0.5mg/2xday to say 0.5mg/ 4-5xday?

It seems like a less intrusive option given the fact I'm already on it and tolerate it quite well.
I will be asking my p/doc but thought I'd look for feedback from the group?

Thanks for your continued support, Rick
