Yes. Part of the problem with discussing the subject of biogenic depressive disorders is that almost everyone has experienced something that they call "depression". Some people swear that your depression is no different from theirs. Why should it be? You are both using the same word to describe it.
Even here on Psycho-Babble, there is often confusion as to which among the various types of depression one is referring to. I try to make a habit of using the medical terms to be specific as to what kind of depression I am referring to. Depression can be a natural reaction to loss. MDD is an abnormal reaction to just about everything.
1. Major Depressive Disorder - MDD
2. Bipolar Disorder - BPThere are still other depressive pathologies that are more psychogenic than biogenic. The more specific we are at naming our illnesses, disorders, situations, or conditions, the more appropriately we can address them.
