manic:
I can't recommend therapy strongly enough, especially when you don't have a psydoc and your g.p. is not sufficiently responsive.
I've been in CBT for OCD for years, but recently we took a few months off the OCD problem to focus exclusively on depression. I can't tell you how much it helped to have someone knowledgeable to talk to about my problems. And it was nice to walk away from sessions with some ideas about relaxation techniques, methods to "live in the moment enjoying one thing--like a cup of coffee" for a short time to give me even a little break from the depression. Just a few little things that aren't going to cure my depression, but which certainly helped me survive some pretty horrible days.
Not to mention, there's a real cathartic effect to sitting down with someone and pouring your soul out for an hour.
