> bleauberry, very helpful information,I read it twice already and will read it even again later.--I am going to look into seeing the type of doctor you're talking about.--About doxycycline I tried for a few days, the first day I felt quite good, afterwards I felt terrble,I don't know if it was a the type of reaction you're talking about or something else.In the meantime before I see an expert in this field is something like levaquin good to try?I've been on cipro in the past for a short period of time and had no side effects.I guess what I'm trying to ask is what 'other' type of antibiotics are effective other than the "cyclines"?

Yes, please do find an LLMD. They are scarce. I'm guessing maybe 2 to 4 in any state, maybe more in larger states. In my area of New England I found 6 within about a 3 hour radius. I took the one who takes my insurance, some of the others didn't, and he also had the most popular reputation.

For ABX choices I would read things on internet searches from Dr. Sam Donta of Boston, and Dr. Burrasco. Their treatments are different, so you can get a rounded view and then study the options. Do a google search on such things as "Lyme Disease Foundation", and "What every psychiatrist should know about Lyme disease". And though it is off the beaten path, controversial, and theoretical without any proof, the Marshall protocol does a good job of explaining how various infections can be so deceptive and tough to beat, and how strategies like pulsing work.

Though this is aimed at Lyme, the treatments are similar or identical to other unseen infections.

Can a cat bite cause some sort of infectious disease? Well, I dunno. Let me tell you a story from my LLMD. He had a patient who presented with obvious Lyme symptoms. The test was negative and the person did not live in a place where ticks are found. So it looked confusing. On further investigation, this person had been swimming months earlier and remember getting a scratch on a barnacle that took a long time to heal and was followed by a purple rash. That was the only clue to go on. My doctor from his own personal observations knew that whenever he sees a mysterious purple rash he goes for Tetracycline because for some unknown reason works. He started the patient on Tetra and in a few weeks the patient was cured of all symptoms. So in this case, someone got sick in a way that looked like Lyme, except it was from a barnacle scratch. I guess you kind of have to interpret that on your own as to whether a cat could spread a disease or not. I honestly don't know.

Are the herbs powerful? Holy cow, yes! Actually the strongest most scary Herx reaction I ever had was to one single drop of liquid Samento (a refined Cat's Claw extract). Powerful stuff. I read somewhere that even one drop was powerful and I laughed thinking sure, what a joke, one drop, give me a break. Boy were they right.

Another herb I've found real strong is Pau D'Arco tea boiled for at least 10 minutes (the active ingredient is hard to extract unless boiled for 10 minutes or more). It has an odd flavor, but some people drink it every day just for overall health and immune enhancement. Of course, they aren't sick and don't have a Herx. While it is good defense against common colds and flus and bacterias, it is most powerful against yeast. At this point time, yeast appears to be my biggest hurdle. That's why I Herx real bad on a cup of the tea and am also having a hard time increasing doses of Nystatin.

I've never tried Grapefruit Seed Extract but it is said to be strong.

For parasites, a tincture from Dr Clarkia that has black walnut hulls, wormwood, and cloves, works very well. It is also moderately effective on yeasts, viruses, and bacteria. Speaking of wormwood, its active ingredient (artemisia? not sure) has been claimed by many at Lyme forums as being one of the best natural supplements in their arsenal.

While I had a modest Herx to Olive Leaf Extract, reported to be strong, it provided only about 2 weeks of killing power and then seemed to do nothing.

Large doses of garlic kill, and make an inhospital environment for many viruses, bacteria, and yeast to grow. A few times a week I will down several fresh cut-up cloves before bed. I've heard 8 cloves a day is really needed. A supplement called Allimax has high therapeutic doses of the active ingredient in garlic except without the awful stink.

If I get frustrated with pharmaceuticals some day, I will no doubt rely on these powerful herbs. They have actually healed people when all the pharmaceuticals you can name didn't.
