I have moderate (sometimes severe) back pain due to aherniated disks. Most recently, I was diagnosed with TMJ due the disk in the joint wearing down (again with the disks!). Right now the pain in my jaw trumps the pain in my back (which recently only comes and goes-it hasn't been a constant thing).
Anyway, I've been prescribed vicoden and percocet in the past but I can't take those without throwing them up an hour later. No matter what I do, they just don't agree with my stomach-even if i can keep them down I still walk around feeling nauseous so the throwing up is really a relief.
Does anyone know of any alternative to those pills. My cousin who works at a hospital got me valium which strangely helped a lot with the TMJ, I was able to eat dinner with little to no pain when i opened my mouth.
However, I don't think that's an option because it isn't a pain med, right? When I think valium, i think anxiety. Now, the doc did say the tmj is stress triggered/related, so maybe the valium would help on that level. I also take soma for my back and that helps my jaw too. But still, any other ideas???
Oh, one more thing...my doc gave me dolopid for pain, but that's just tearing up my stomach...not nausea, i mean cramping/pain...so I'm going to probably have to stop that soon i think.
thanks,
SB
