I take it but just as a supplement - it is supposed to reduce homocysteine. It is considered a supplement that is beneficial for the heart by reducing homocysteine levels. However, the research is somewhat spotty on this. Also recall reading something about CoQ10 causing increased production of free radicals in cases of oxygen depletion. Depletion may not be the right term here and this was discussed with regard to another substance Idebenone which is a synthetic variant of CoQ10 that presumably doesn't have this effect. I also read that for now the consensus seems to be to stick with CoQ10. Since I respond better to the TCAs I've added it to my regimen of supplements and have been taking for many years. I can't say that I have noticed any effect in terms of depression. I take 100mg/ day. I am not sure what an appropriate dosage should be.
