If its as bad as you indicate, I would say that yes you gave it a fair trial. Why keep taking a med if it makes you worse?

5 weeks is pleanty long enough to try any A/D, IMO.

Perhaps, if you wish to use a MAOI you can have your Pdoc prescribe Marplan or Parnate?
