Is Seroquel really good for anxiety???

Posted by jms600 on April 20, 2009, at 16:35:35

I am seeing my psychiatrist soon and am going to ask for another med for my severe anxiety. I'm on a Effexor/Lithium/Buspirone cocktail at the moment which isn't doing all it should be. Benzos are really struggling to help too. I have GAD, panic disorder, social phobia and moderate depression.

I've considered Zyprexa; however, I get severe weight gain with it, so am thinking about Seroquel.

Is Seroquel really effective against anxiety problems and depression (I read on wikipedia that it's in stage 3 trials for both)? I took it around 12 months ago at doses of up to 200mg but it didn't seem to help - should I try a higher dose? Zyprexa only really helps me at 10mg+ so maybe a higher dose of Seroquel is necessary.

Can anyone advise on the efficacy of Seroquel in anxiety and depression??

Thanks.
