does lamictal increase a lot of serotonin?

Posted by mogger on April 14, 2009, at 15:34:33

Hello there,
Lamictal is the backbone of helping my depression and I am at 300mg. It has been a lifesaver form me. I have some short term memory loss so I am going to try and go down 25mg a month and see if it gets better to a targeted 200mg. the memory loss isn't too bad but I thought it was worth a shot if I can get away at a lower dose. The only thing I worry about is that I read that it boosts serotonin and wondered if by lowering my dose I am jeapordizing it's efficacy and could become depressed again at a lower dose? I know that 100/200mg is a targeted dose for depression so according to that I am well over the average dose. I would greatly appreciate it if anyone had any insight into the medication. I take it with zoloft and buspar. Many thanks for your help,
mogger
