> Hey hey. Im taking trileptals generic and its pretty good. Im doing really good. I seem to hit side effects at certain dosages. So I was wondering if it would be good to stop where side effects start and add another low dose med like depakote? like 500mg maybe. or less. I just dont want to deal with side effects I mean geez. especially weight gain/appetite increase. im already 230 pounds. HAHA and Im anorexic! WOW a 230 anorexic. Just playing around....

In my experience, which includes the taking of both antidepressants and mood stabilizers, one cannot reduce the dosage of one drug such that the supplementation of another drug allows the first drug to be just as effective as it was at the original therapeutic dosage.
You can try your experiment. I doubt you have anything to lose. I would add the second drug before lowering the dosage of the first one. If you feel better upon adding a second mood stabilizer, you either:
1. Don't need the first one.
2. Need both - each at therapeutic dosages.Of course, I could be wrong with my guesses and you might end up at a lower dosage of Trileptal.
Good luck.
