So I read what you said about desipramine, and looked it up on wiki:
"Desipramine is one of the most potent and selective medications in this respect. It may also be used to treat symptoms of Attention Deficit Disorder, as the underproduction of norepinephrine has been increasingly linked to symptoms associated with Attention Deficit Disorder."
Hmm. So if Effexor worked for me years ago, but I hated it. When it kicked in, I lost my emotions--nothing at all would upset me, but it seemed I felt no real joy either. I was emotionally numb, felt too much like a robot. Although it worked, it freaked me out and I quit. I quit using it twice-the withdrawal is horrible. I never felt so awful in my life--almost like I was going to die of pure misery. Well, I should have tapered off, but just didn't. I had to get it out of my body. It seems poisonous to me. The 2nd time I was on it, I got swollen joints, really irregular, but really painful. Went to a Rheumetologist-I didn't have Rhemeutoid arthritis, the tests revealed, so I quit the Effexor again. The swelling went away when I quit Effexor, but I was also taking Wellbutrin at the same time and had quit that as well. I thought I was allergic to it.
So did you ever try Effexor? What led you to desipramine? What would be the advantages of one vs. the other?
Just trying to think ahead.
