Unless I encounter a major adverse event, I just start a new drug and forget about it. I know that it is going to take weeks to work. Even a dosage adjustment can take 3 weeks to show a difference. Like you said, obsessing about the drug won't make it work any better - it might even make it work less well, as the stress and anxiety are working against the drug response.
