> So I started thinking. Maybe the reason I don't tolerate any of these meds well is because I might not have a chemical imbalance and I don't need these meds. I came off of everything except my xanax. Would take .5 during the day if needed and 1.5 at night to sleep. (Because nothing else seemed to work for me as far as sleep.) I didn't understand why I would wake in the morning anxietal.

>Have you tried clonazepam (Klonopin)? IMHO it's the best available benzodiazepine for regular (daily) use as well as tapering from short-acting benzodiazepines such as Xanax. It doesn't have an elimination half-life as long as e.g., Valium or Librium, but it has a major advantage related to its distribution (it hangs around in your CNS for a long time). Switching to clonazepam should prevent inter-dose rebound anxiety, and it will be much easier to taper than Xanax.
> I decided after the Marplan incident about 4 weeks ago, that I was done. Tired of feeling like crap all the time and I was also just physically and mentally worn out from all the meds. I just don't feel for me that it is a chemical imbalance, but more of a mental core imbalance that just needs conditioning.
>Psychiatric drugs aren't prescribed to correct "chemical imbalances" -- a term which has no meaning in this context. None of the mental diseases have a known biological etiology, so don't worry about that stuff. Do what is best for you; only you can decide what that is.
BTW, out of curiosity, what happened on Marplan? (You mentioned having a violent reaction on it).
