Maoi,
If you don't mind me asking, what was your original diagnosis?
Someone here mentioned Ensam to me, have you tried that one. Apparently patches are expensive, but oral pills or liquid are not.
Don't know now if I want to start up on a maoi. Seems like they poop out just as easily as ssri's.
Was thinking today that I might ask my pdoc to try zoloft again. It worked wonders for me years ago the first time this happened to me. I know that everyone has different experiences with meds, but I never experienced fatigue, weight gain or anything like that on zoloft. I might try one more ssri before considering maoi.
From the post I have read, titrating up on maoi's can be just as difficult as ssris. Am concerned about maois because I have blood pressure problems and allergy issues. (Not sure what I could take for my allergies.)
For me, I can usually tell if ssri is doing a good thing or bad thing within the first week or two.
Am so confused now. Also read some stories on www.patientslikeme.com who were also on maois. The increase on these meds seems so gradual until you might reach whatever dosages might be right for you and during the titrating stage, it seems like you go through feeling really crappy alot. I am beginning to wonder if there is really that big a difference. Of course, alot of people might require more meds than I do depending on their condition.
I just have a little SAD, GAD, PTSD and agoraphobia.(Have also started seeing a therapist for CBT) I don't think I need a butt load of meds to get this under control. That's why I asked what your diagnosis was. I don't want to take antipsychotics (one's I tried are Geoden and Seroquel, both were awful and I'm not real sure why the pdoc I was seeing at the time was giving me these for my condition) Hated trazadone and remeron makes my ears ring, gives me an awful headache and really didn't help with anxiety for a long period of time.
So I guess that is why I just keep looking for a med that is geared specifically for what I've got. I don't want alot of other stuff thrown into the mix that I don't need. I think I just need either an ssri that will work (which zoloft seems to be made more for my condition) or an maoi. The only other thing a need is a benzo for back and sleep until I can get these issues under control.
How long were you on Marplan before you felt leveled out consistantly? How often did you up dosages? Why do you think this pooped out on you?
Hope all is well. Please let me know what is going on with you.
Stay O.K.
Courtney
