Dear R
Thanks for your post.
It just reminds me that depression is not a thing that can be cured - yet. I think a day will come when that statement will no longer be true, but for now it's a true statement.
Some people have an episode and naturally want to put it behind them and get on with things. Nobody wants to give a lot of time and thought to it. Nobody wants to take meds, if they can get away without that. But right now, that's what we've got for the disease. There's no vaccine yet.
It reminds me that we're all different, biologically and our history. I'm just saying that this is not something anyone can take lightly, like a cold.
We see posts here from time to time from people who drop their meds. and say, "I feel great". That usually lasts for about a week or a month, and they have to go back on. For most folks, it's better to stay on. It's complicated; things like stress, emotions, even time of year play into it.
To those who may read this: If you've recently been diagnosed or had a few experiences with the illness, it's definitely a good idea to read-up on the illness; read a lot, if you have the time, because this is one area where knowlege will help you a lot. It's your life
