In reply to Pristiq vs. Effexor effectiveness, posted by uncouth on February 7, 2009, at 11:21:55
I could well be wrong - and I apologise if I am - but I would have thought Pristiq is as effective as Effexor, with lower doses of Pristiq doing the same job as higher doses of Effexor.
Effexor is venlafaxine and Pristiq is the metabolite of venlafaxine (desvenlafaxine) (as escitalopram is to citalopram). I'm not a pharmacologist, but surely this is the case..?
> Anyone had experience with both Pristiq and Effexor? Looking for comments in terms of effectiveness, and length of time before you felt an effect.

> So far I'm at 100mg of Pristiq, doesn't feel as effective as 300mg of Effexor, and EFfexor always kicked in within 2 weeks. I'm at 2.5 on Pristiq and I still feel like sh*t.
