Even though it takes a while for monoamine oxidase levels to fully regerate, it is still being produced at a constant rate. If you only took the drug once a week, you probably would not be achieving a steady rate of inhibition.

But you are right, there are likely other targets of the medications. Nardil affects the metabolism of gaba with one of its metabolites.
