Foods to Avoid on Parnate?

Posted by bleauberry on January 24, 2009, at 17:03:05

So my doctor has said she has no problem at all in giving me Nardil, Parnate, Lexapro+Abilify, Lexapro+Risperdal, Lexapro+Seroquel, or Effexor.

I've noticed a trend here and at other sites where lexapro by itself has mixed reviews, and with me was not a promising experience, but that when combined with one of those three antipsychotics it is a totally new drug with frequent good outcomes. Effexor I've never tried. The MAOIs I've never tried.

I have Parnate onhand and it looks to be the first up for trial. Being real sensitive I would probably start at 5mg and go by feel after that.

So I need help on the diet restrictions. I realize some people have no problems at all. But I want to be oversafe to start with. Below I will list foods I eat commonly. Please tell me which ones I can no longer eat. Also list other foods I defininitely need to avoid. Thank you so much!

Milk
Half n Half
Sour Cream
Yogurt
All breads, cereals, pastas are rice, corn, or quinoa based...no wheat, no barley, no beans (I am gluten free)
Chocolate semisweet chips
Chocolate ice cream
Chocolate milk shakes
Three Muskateers Bar
Fried, Baked, or Boiled Chicken
Fried, Baked, or Boiled Beef
Fried, Baked, or Boiled Pork
Pepperoni
Sandwich Ham
Hot Dogs
Potatoes...chips, baked, mashed.
Lettuces
Tomotoes
Avaocados
Cucumbers
Peppers, green, yellow, orange, red, and hot ones.
Dried cranberries.
STrawberries.
Bananas
Mozzarella Cheese
Colby Cheese
Sharp Cheddar Cheese
Cream Cheese
Decaf Coffee
Regular Coffee
Eggs
Bacon
Sausage

The only OTC med I ever take is Ibuprofen.

What in the above list do I need to avoid?
What else should I avoid?
